EXCLUSIVE: Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch, splits from his second spouse because the 72-year-old reveals the pressure attempting to rescue his late daughter from her troubles with alcohol and medicines placed on his marriage

It was 12 years in the past that Mitch Winehouse misplaced his daughter Amy. And now he’s nursing a brand new heartache – the unravelling of his marriage.

He battled to get his beloved daughter to desert the boozy life-style which was killing her whilst she loved extraordinary success.

When his efforts resulted in heartbreaking failure along with her dying, aged 27, Mitch and second spouse Jane established, with Amy’s mom Janis, the Amy Winehouse Basis within the hope of inspiring younger folks to spare themselves from the same path.

However whereas the charity continues to thrive, he and Jane – the lady for whom he left Janis when Amy was solely 9 – have gone their separate methods.

‘I have never made a public announcement,’ Mitch, 72, tells me, explaining that he has been reticent to take action as a result of Jane, 59, stays, like him, a trustee of the muse.

Insisting their separation was amicable, Mitch means that the primary strains on their relationship date again to when Amy was falling aside beneath the cosh of binges on alcohol and narcotics. 

He would do what he may to assist. ‘I might get a name at 3am and run out at 4am,’ Mitch says, including that this inevitably took a toll on his marriage. 

He felt compelled to reassure his spouse that his nocturnal assignations actually did contain his solely daughter. ‘I stated to her: ‘Hear! There aren’t any different ladies!’

Jane may have been forgiven for considering that historical past was repeating itself.

She and Mitch divorced in 1993. He and Jane married in 1996. But within the years that adopted, Janis forgave him.

She and Mitch remained bonded by their determined quest to avoid wasting their daughter from her addictions. ‘None of us are good’, Mitch stated.

‘Jane was so even tempered, as was Janis. They have to be with me – I am a Sagittarian tiger! Truly, we get on higher. 

‘We’re all nonetheless pals and all nonetheless operating the Basis collectively.’
