A driver who smashed by means of marina barrier and ploughed into the water has been rescued.

Police have been referred to as to reviews of the incident at Swansea marina shortly after 10am at present and rushed to the scene which was cordoned off.

In an announcement, Mid and West Wales Hearth and Rescue Service confirmed a ‘casualty’ had been rescued from the ‘submerged car’ which reportedly crashed outdoors the Nationwide Waterfront Museum.

It added a ‘non-public motorized vehicle had pushed by means of a barrier and had entered the water with one particular person contained in the car’.

Residents of the Maritime Quarter have mentioned the world is ‘severely restricted’ as a result of ongoing ‘severe incident’. 

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson informed MailOnline: ‘We have been referred to as at present, at roughly 10:01am, to reviews of a car coming into the water at Swansea Marina.

‘We despatched 4 hazardous space response groups, one air ambulance, two Cymru excessive acuity response items, one obligation operational supervisor and one emergency ambulance to the scene the place we have been assisted by colleagues from the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Switch Service who travelled by air’.
