Mack Vans fired again on the hanging United Auto Staff, saying it’s “not ready to jeopardize the corporate” to satisfy the union’s new financial calls for.

Talks resumed Thursday within the 11-day-old strike by 3,900 employees in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Florida. The union’s new calls for didn’t sit effectively with the corporate.

“Sadly, the brand new UAW financial calls for are utterly unrealistic,” Mack President Stephen Roy stated in a news release late Thursday. “We’ve already proven that we’re ready to supply our workers with considerably improved wages. However we’re not ready to jeopardize the corporate.”

UAW-represented workers voted 73% towards a tentative settlement endorsed by native bargainers and UAW Worldwide officers.

Mack: UAW ‘ignoring three months of good-faith bargaining’

The calls for “seemingly return to day one in all negotiations and ignore three months of good-faith bargaining between the events,” Roy stated.

The strike started Oct. 8 at six Volvo Group amenities. They embrace the Decrease Macungie, Pennsylvania, meeting plant that makes all Mack heavy-duty industrial vehicles in North America. Mack is a part of Volvo Group North America.

An engine plant in Hagerstown, Maryland, and components distribution facilities in Baltimore and Jacksonville, Florida, are also on strike.

Knock-on strike results at Volvo prevented to this point

Volvo Vans North America (VTNA) manufacturing in Dublin, Virginia, is to this point unaffected. The meeting advanced in New River Valley (NRV) makes heavy-duty Volvo VNL and VNR fashions. The plant additionally builds the battery-powered VNR Electrical day cab.

“To this point, we’ve managed to reduce the influence to our aftermarket components help,” Mack spokesperson Kimberly Pupillo stated in an electronic mail. “The strike has not affected NRV manufacturing, however might whether it is extended.”

A 12-day UAW walkout at Mack in 2019 pressured VTNA to halt manufacturing due to an absence of engines. The slowing state of Class 8 tractor demand could spare the plant from downtime this time.

UAW Worldwide President Sean Fain visited Native 677 in Pennsylvania final weekend. Lehman, in the meantime, walked picket traces within the Detroit space.
