Off-Obligation Pilot Allegedly Tried to Shut Down Aircraft’s Engines


An off-duty pilot allegedly tried to close down a aircraft’s engines mid-flight. After an Alaska Airways flight took off from Washington, a disaster erupted. Off-duty pilot Joseph David Emerson was sitting contained in the cockpit when he reportedly lunged for the controls and tried to close off the aircraft’s engines. The aircraft diverted to Portland for an emergency touchdown. He was charged with 83 counts of tried homicide. No passengers had been harmed.
