Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has invited former President Trump to his nation’s conflict zone, saying the previous president “can’t handle this conflict.”
Zelensky, who joined NBC “Meet the Press” Kristen Welker, responded to Trump’s claims that he might finish the conflict with Russia in 24 hours.
“Former President Trump stated that about 24 hours, that he can handle it and end the conflict,” Zelensky stated in the course of the interview that airs Sunday. “For me, what can I say? So he’s very welcome as properly.”
“President Biden was right here, and I believe he understood some particulars which you’ll perceive solely being right here,” Zelenskyy continued. “So I invite President Trump. If he can come right here, I’ll want 24 minutes.”
In March, the previous president stated he might “clear up” the conflict in Ukraine in someday if he had been reelected, noting that the negotiation course of could be “very straightforward.”
The Ukrainian president stated he would want simply 24 minutes as a substitute of 24 hours to elucidate to Trump that he can’t finish the conflict as simply as he thinks he might.
Zelensky added that peace can’t be negotiated with Russian President Vladimir Putin, even when Trump had been to attempt.
“He can’t convey peace due to Putin,” he stated. “If he’s not attempting and if he’s not prepared to present our territory to this horrible man, to Putin, if you’re not prepared to present it, if you’re not prepared to present our independence, he can’t handle it.”
Welker requested Zelensky if he thinks Trump would assist Ukraine in its conflict if he had been to win the 2024 presidential election, with Zelensky saying he wasn’t certain.
“Actually, I don’t know,” he stated. “I hope that it relies upon not solely on the president institutionally. I believe it relies on the opinion of People, of your society. I believe that’s most essential.”
