US opens probe into over 450,000 Nissan automobiles on engine failure issues


(Reuters) – A U.S. auto security regulator stated on Friday it’s going to open an investigation into about 454,840 Nissan automobiles over reviews alleging engine failure that may result in a lack of motive energy with no means to re-start.

The U.S. Workplace of Defects Investigation (ODI) has opened a preliminary analysis into Nissan Rogue, Altima and Infiniti Qx50 automobiles, the Nationwide Freeway Site visitors Security Administration stated, including a complete of six complaints have been obtained relating to the difficulty.

Automobile house owners reported engine failures, a lack of energy, engine knocking noises, steel chunks and shavings discovered within the oil pan of sure automobiles geared up with the KR15DDT and KR20DDET engines, ODI stated.

The Japanese automaker has seemed to handle most important bearing and L-link harm or seizures on the engines by introducing a number of manufacturing course of adjustments over time, the regulator stated.

The investigation could also be expanded if wanted, ODI stated.
