Man allegedly pulls gun on mother over restaurant tab, police say


MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A person allegedly pulled a gun out on his mom and beat up her boyfriend after being requested to pay his tab at an East Memphis restaurant on his birthday, in response to Memphis Police.

Mason Hibbs, 23, is charged with Aggravated Assault and Easy Assault.

On July 9, officers responded to an incident at TJ Mulligans on Kirby Parkway.

A girl informed police she walked to the parking zone to ask her son, Hibbs, who was sitting in his automotive, to pay his tab. Throughout their speak, Hibbs reportedly pulled a handgun out of his backpack and stated, “Would you like me to get out with this?”

The girl stated she was in concern of being damage or killed.

In keeping with MPD, the girl’s boyfriend confronted Hibbs, leading to a combat. The boyfriend had bruising and swelling beneath his eyes and a bloody nostril and lip.

Police took a 9mm gun from the scene. They stated surveillance video confirmed Hibbs was the first aggressor.

In keeping with police paperwork, the incident occurred on Hibbs’ birthday.

He’s set to seem in court docket Wednesday morning.
