(Reuters) -Mexico has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Oct. 1 inauguration of President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum, Russia’s Izvestia newspaper reported on Wednesday, citing Mexico’s embassy to Russia.
“Russia’s invitation to participate within the inauguration of President Sheinbaum was despatched to President Putin,” a consultant of the Mexican embassy stated, in response to Izvestia.
“The Russian President will resolve whether or not he’ll take part within the ceremony himself or appoint one other high-ranking official to take action on his behalf.”
Mexico’s international ministry directed a request for remark to Sheinbaum’s workforce, which didn’t instantly reply.
