Russia launches air assault on Ukraine’s Kyiv, mayor says

KYIV (Reuters) -Russia launched an air assault on Kyiv, with air defence methods engaged on the outskirts of town in repelling the strikes, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital and navy administration officers stated early on Sunday.

“Air defence models working, air raid alert continues,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on the Telegram messaging app.

Reuters witnesses stated they heard not less than two explosions in what seemed like air defence models at work.

It was not instantly clear if the assault induced any injury or accidents.

Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s navy administration, stated on Telegram that the capital remained underneath the specter of Russia’s ballistic missiles.

Kyiv, its surrounding area and all of japanese Ukraine had been underneath air raid alerts, Ukraine’s air drive stated on Telegram.
