Hurricane Helene efforts forces early winter highway closures at Mount Rainier


White River Street which results in the White River Campground might be closing for winter beginning October 14.

On Wednesday, the Nationwide Park Service (NPS) introduced that the closure might be sooner than in earlier years on account of staffing ranges at Mount Rainier.

Employees from the Mount Rainier Nationwide Park had been deployed to help with Hurricane Helene’s restoration efforts forcing the park to vary its closure date.

Mowich Lake Street will shut at 9 a.m. on October 14 however State Route 123 and 410, which offer entry to the east aspect of Mount Rainier will keep open till mid-November.

NPS recommends guests examine on highway closures earlier than touring to Mount Rainier and never depend upon GPS as a result of it could actually lead guests to closed gates and trigger hours of delays.
