LDS missionary from Idaho passes away from ‘sudden medical emergency’ in New Jersey

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A 19-year-old man who was on a service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints handed away after a “sudden medical emergency,” in keeping with a spokesperson with the church.

Elder Mack Jared Chappell died on Saturday, in keeping with Sam Penrod, a spokesperson for the church.

“Elder Chappell turned unresponsive early Saturday morning and makes an attempt to revive him had been unsuccessful,” Penrod mentioned.

The spokesperson mentioned Chappell died from a “but to be decided medical situation.”

“Our prayers are with Elder Chappell’s household, associates, and fellow missionaries, throughout this troublesome time,” Penrod mentioned.

Chappell was initially from Sugar Metropolis, Idaho, and was serving his mission within the New Jersey Morristown Mission since July 2023, Penrod mentioned.
